These are pictures I took over spring break. Most are landscape/scenery photographs but I also tried to focus on single subjects. I framed the shot to achieve balance as best I could.

Over the weekend, I met up with a friend and walked around FiDi & Battery Park. We also took the Staten Island Ferry because I had never been on it before. I took these pictures using my Canon PowerShot SD800. Sometimes this camera makes things look grayer than they are in real life, but it does pretty well in sunnier conditions like this - the muted colors give an almost nostalgic feeling.

For this submission, I experimented with long exposure shots. Using the Live Photo mode, I held my phone still and changed it to long exposure afterward. The Guggenheim MuseumIt was really crowded on the day I went, so using long exposure worked out in my favor because the people moving around create a blurred effect and gave the still subjects more emphasis. Dorothea Lange (1895-1965) AmericanLange was best known for her documentary photography and photojournalism. She worked for the Resettlement Administration, a government agency formed during the Depression to help farmers. She later went on to find success in portrait photography. For this submission, I wanted to apply what we learned about composition, namely the Rule of Thirds. I hoped that this method would help guide the viewer’s eye to the parts of the image I wanted to highlight. I turned on the grid view on my camera and tried to align the main subject with the most dynamic portions of the grid, as outlined by the rule. I like the use of colors and the lower exposure. Would be more interesting to see different textures - everything is shiny. I like that the book covers his face almost fully - like it's posed. Would be nice to get a better angle of the book and the way he's holding it. The contrast between the blue and red is cool. The picture is zoomed in and I wish I had a better angle so I wouldn't have to crop it. I like the darkness - spooky :) The clouds around the moon almost look like bats ? I
