Constant Output Presentation

I did not complete the project before the conclusion of the semester, but the assignment was to make weekly progress and updates, so it's okay! Lessons learned:• Working with the pattern - with such a small canvas, there is a lot of room for error. At some points I needed to rip out the thread because I was stitching in the wrong place. Eventually, I realized the sunset pattern is pretty forgiving so certain inaccuracies were kept in the project.• Separating threads - Halfway through the project I started running out of thread and it was because I was using
Shoes

Shoes

When I tore a hole in my old sneakers, I contemplated getting a new embroidered pair of Converse to replace them. I ended up buying a plain pair to decorate myself because I only wanted one shoe to be decorated instead of both. This way, my shoes would be unique and I could have full creative control. I sketched some animal characters to decide on a design and free-handed some simple flowers as well. The canvas, especially near the heel, was very thick and it made the process pretty painful but I am satisfied with how they turned out. This

Man, I Love Frogs

This tote was inspired by a picture of a bumper sticker I first saw on Twitter, pictured below. This project took a lot of time, patience, and embroidery thread. Since it holds a special place in my heart now, this is one of the only totes I intend on keeping and using for myself.
Winter to Spring

Winter to Spring

I gave this bag to my best friend! I designed it when I was exploring how to blend different colors of thread. This one took a long time, since I started it in February, stopped working on it when school got busy in March, and finally finished in April. Since the flowers are so close to the bottom of the bag they are not fully visible when the bag is full, but I think it's still a nice design in principle.

Planets

This was a free-hand design with a space theme. Even though the planets were pretty small, each one used at least 3 colors to add more dimension.
Coloring Page

Coloring Page

This one was made for a friend :) She let me do whatever I wanted, so I came up with a simple floral design for her. It features red roses, yellow daffodils, and a blue iris. For this design, I tried outlining for the first time. This technique made the flowers look cleaner and more machine-produced. It felt like filling in a coloring page very slowly.
Garden Variety

Garden Variety

Out of all the bags I've worked on, this one has the most different colors on it! It was a bit tedious since I had to change threads so often but the process was a lot of fun. I was able to use up thread leftover from previous designs. I like that this one features so many different types of stitches throughout but is still pretty simple.
Bouquets

Bouquets

This design was on the simpler side and I enjoyed practicing various stitches as I went. I recreated it a couple of times in blue, red, pink, and purple. Unlike most of my totes, these were double sided so the bag could be worn both ways. I put one of the bags through the wash, not knowing what the process would do. The fabric softened a bit, but the dryer ended up shrinking the bag and making it wrinkly.
Sunflower Sunset

Sunflower Sunset

This was my first big project. I was still new to embroidery and I knew I wanted to make personalized items for my friends and family at some point, but this initial tote would be for me to keep. It features a sunset over a sunflower field, both things I love very much. The design I chose was a bit ambitious for a first go, but I really like how it turned out.
